Pocono Lake United Methodist Church to Send a Team to Puerto Rico
Pocono Lake UMC is excited to be sending a few of our members as part of the Volunteers in Mission team headed to Puerto Rico for a recovery mission trip in March 2019. When Hurricane Maria hit in September 2017 it left devastation in its wake. Puerto Rico was hit especially hard and cleanup and rebuilding is still ongoing.
This small group from Pocono Lake UMC is part of the second team from Eastern Pennsylvania Conference who will be working to restore some homes and churches in the northeast region of Puerto Rico. Fundraising efforts for the mission trip are underway.
The first fundraiser "The Flavor of Puerto Rico Dinner" was a huge success!
Thank you so much to Jose Maldonado, Wilma and Oscar Martinez from the Rincon Caribe Restaurant in Tannersville and Kevin Pena from Everybody Eats Foundation for their donation of the wonderful dinner.
Click here to download latest version of the Way Forward that includes detailed information regarding the 3 plans that our conference is considering for the Special General Conference to be held in February 2019. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A LARGE FILE THAT CONTAINS OVER 90 PAGES.
Everyone us welcome to go to EPAUMC.ORG for information and prayer resources regarding this important issue. Message to all Church Leaders: Please read this document. It outlines the 3 proposals being voted on in February and the subsequent impact upon our denomination.
BOARD OF CHURCH AND SOCIETY
During February and March 2019, we will be highlighting
FAITH AND FACTS - A MONTHLY GUIDE TO OUR MOTTO:
LivingFAITH, SeekingJUSTICE, PursuingPEACE
Why REDUCE, REUSE, AND RECYCLE?
Did you know that if everyone in the world lived according to the U.S. Standard of Living we would need FOUR planets worth of resources?
This is just one of the facts listed on the SUSTAINABILITY Faith & Facts Card.
Please help yourself to a SUSTAINABILITY Faith and Facts Card.
Did you know that the United Methodist Church has a book called Our Social Principles?
For all of the issues that we face today as a Christian, the Board of Church and Society makes available to all the churches in our denomination Faith and Facts Informational Cards. This makes for easy distribution and ease in sharing what we believe as United Methodists regarding the issues that are facing our World today. Each Card explores:
What the Bible says.
What the United Methodist Church says,
What the facts say,
And lastly what do you say?
These Faith and Fact Cards are available on the Church and Society Website
