A Bible Study from District Superintendant Steve Morton
In this season of Advent, explore the Infancy narratives as we find them in the gospel of Mathew. Advent itself we might understand as Gods dream for the world coming true: in the arrival of Jesus, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. And yet, Matthews story of Advent and Christmas is told very deliberately in a series of four progressive scenes, each of which features a nighttime dream to human beings dreams which offer divine guidance, or warning from danger, or a challenge to try something new. If Advent is Gods dream coming true, we might ask: how do we ourselves (and our church) live into Gods dream, and does God today offer guidance or protection or challenge to us in dreams?

Pocono Lake United Methodist Church to Send a Team to Puerto Rico
Pocono Lake UMC is excited to be sending a few of our members as part of the Volunteers in Mission team headed to Puerto Rico for a recovery mission trip in March 2019. When Hurricane Maria hit in September 2017 it left devastation in its wake. Puerto Rico was hit especially hard and cleanup and rebuilding is still ongoing.
This small group from Pocono Lake UMC is part of the second team from Eastern Pennsylvania Conference who will be working to restore some homes and churches in the northeast region of Puerto Rico. Fundraising efforts for the mission trip are underway.
The first fundraiser "The Flavor of Puerto Rico Dinner" was a huge success!
Thank you so much to Jose Maldonado, Wilma and Oscar Martinez from the Rincon Caribe Restaurant in Tannersville and Kevin Pena from Everybody Eats Foundation for their donation of the wonderful dinner.
Click here to download latest version of the Way Forward that includes detailed information regarding the 3 plans that our conference is considering for the Special General Conference to be held in February 2019. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A LARGE FILE THAT CONTAINS OVER 90 PAGES.

Please pray for all that have been and continue to be faced with severe flooding from Hurricane Florence. The devastation in North Carolina continues from the aftermath of the storm. As people struggle to rebuild their lives, let us do all we can to help.
12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. (Romans 12:12-15, NRSV)
